Extra Virgin Olive Oil D.O.P.(Protected denomination of origin) GARDA BRESCIANO
Produced by the Cavazza family that we have personnally known for a long time.

This special olive oil D.O.P. DOP stands for 'Denominazione d'Origine Protetta'.

The mark is guaranteed by the European Union and was created to promote the authenticity and artisan characteristics of certain food and agricultural products.

Extra virgin D.O.P. Garda Bresciano Olive oil is obtained from olives which grow on trees neatly aligned on the slopes of the Rocca di Manerba. Local traditions are followed scrupulously and ancient secrets are passed down through the generations of country folk.

Lake Garda boasts a characteristically Mediterranean micro climate which maintains a constant humidity. The beneficial contributions of autumn mists completes the cycle of season with equilibrium.

The pressing of the olives takes place within 24 hours of harvesting at the oil press in San Felice. The oil is then bottled directly in the farm, in green glass bottles which protects it from the harmful effect of sunlight.

¡° The Cavazza extra virgin olive oil is of a yellow colour, not intense but particularly brilliant, its smell recalls the mature olive together with a note of vegetation that reminds one of recently cut grass and hay that has yet to dry.¡± Slow Food Editore ¨C Guide to 2003 Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

The farm belongs to the Cavazza family since 1900 and it extends for 150 ha between the lands of Manerba and Moniga del Garda on the south western side of the lake.

The mediterranean diet can be described as the dietary pattern found in olive growing areas. Olive oil is important because of its several beneficial properties, the ratio of monounsaturated to saturated dietary lipids is high and these lipids play a major role as stuctural componets of cell membranes, in particular of neurons, nerves, retina, vessels, hart, and blood cells. They act as precursors of several compounds with hormone-like action all with a regulatory effect on several cell function and on cholesterol pathway.
